At Merciful Hearts our approach to the obligation of Zakat is different. The responsibility of Amaanah from our donors is of the utmost importance to us. Therefore, we personally guarantee the delivery of your Zakat by our very own trusted individuals from within the Merciful Hearts organisation. The discharging of the obligation will be made by hand directly to those families most in need within the regions of Idlib, Tal Abyad, Ras Al Ayn and refugees in Turkey.

وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا

At Merciful Hearts, your Zakat is more than a donation—it’s a Divinely ordained trust (Amaanah). When we recieve your Zaaat, we honour this sacred trust by ensuring it reaches those in need directly in a dedicated, highly efficient, and impactful manner. We personally guarantee the delivery of your Zakat by hand. Our very own team members are on the ground delivering your contributions to families that are in the most dire situations.

Where does your Zakat go?

We follow shariah guidelines to deliver your Zakat in the Syrian regions of Idlib, Tal Abyad and Ras Al Ayn. We also deliver your Zakat to impoverished Syrian refugees in Turkey.

What is Zakat?

Zakat is a is charitable practie and a religious obligation upon every able Muslim each year. It is considered a purification of one’s wealth and only requires the minor amount of 2.5%. This collective action from Muslims across the world has the potential to change the lives of millions of vulnerable people.

In the Qur’an, Allah promises that whatever we give in Zakat will be more rewarding and beneficial for us than spending on ourselves.

Who does Merciful Hearts give Zakat to?

Understanding who is eligible to receive Zakat is crucial for fulfilling this sacred duty effectively. There are eight categories of people who are eligible for Zakat. At Merciful Hearts, we deliver your Zakat exclusively to category of The Poor (Al- Fuqara). These individuals barely have enough resources to cover their basic needs. Zakat gives them relief and a means to sustain their day-to-day life without having to beg or endure undue hardship.
